2026-03-15 - Keystone K100 8mm Movie Projector

 

The Keystone K100 is a vintage 8mm silent film projector manufactured by the Keystone Manufacturing Company of Boston. Produced primarily during the 1950s, it is recognized for its durable all-steel construction and mid-century aesthetic. 

Key Features and Specifications

  • Film Format: Designed exclusively for Standard 8mm film (also known as Regular 8 or Double 8). It is not compatible with Super 8 film.
  • Projection Controls: Features a control knob with settings for "still," "forward," "off," and "rewind".
  • Variable Speed: Includes a manual adjustment to speed up or slow down the projection.
  • Reel Capacity: Can accommodate up to 7-inch (400-foot) reels.
  • Optics: Equipped with a manual focusing knob on the front to sharpen the image.
  • Lamp System: Uses a traditional incandescent projection lamp (often a 50-watt or similar variant). Note that these lamps can become very hot during operation.
  • Integrated Features: Many models include a built-in outlet for a separate room lamp that automatically shuts off when the projector starts and turns back on when the film ends.
