2026-03-28 - Achiever 260T Auto Thyristor Flash Unit


 

The Achiever 260T Auto Thyristor flash unit is a shoe-mount strobe flash designed for film cameras, known for its "set-it-and-forget-it" automatic exposure technology. It uses an external light sensor (the thyristor) on the front of the unit to measure reflected light and automatically cut off the flash once the correct exposure is reached. 

Key Features:

  • Auto Thyristor Modes: Typically features two or three auto modes (often marked with coloured dots like Red, Yellow, or Blue) and a Manual (M) mode.
  • Tilt Head: The flash head tilts upward for bouncing light off ceilings to create softer illumination.
  • Colour Filters: Often bundled with four precision filters for creative lighting effects.
  • Calculator Dial: A manual dial on the back helps you determine the correct aperture setting based on your film's ISO and the subject's distance.
  • Power Source: Typically runs on 4 AA batteries (alkaline or NiCad).
