The Chinon f8 / 500mm Mirror Lens is a manual-focus catadioptric telephoto lens valued for its compact size compared to traditional refractive lenses. Catadioptric systems combine lenses (refraction) and curved mirrors (reflection) to form images, commonly used in compact, high-magnification telescopes, camera lenses, and surveillance optics. They offer long focal lengths in shorter, lighter, and more affordable packages compared to pure reflectors. The Chinon f8 / 500mm Mirror Lens was primarily manufactured for the Pentax K mount but is highly adaptable to other systems using a T2/T-mount adapter.
