The Graflex Flash Synchronizer + Flash Gun is battery handle flash unit, originally designed for Speed Graphic and Crown Graphic press cameras. It was also used as the original Star Wars lightsabre prop. The synchronizer uses a solenoid trigger to synchronize bulb ignition with shutter opening.
Key Features:
· Flashgun Handle: A chrome or brushed aluminum tube that holds 2 or 3 "D" cell batteries to power the flash and, in some setups, the shutter release.
· Reflector: A detachable dish (commonly 5" or 7") that mounts to the top of the battery case to direct light.
· Solenoid Synchronizer: An electromagnetic device mounted on the lens board that physically trips the shutter when you press the button on the flash handle.
· Synchronizer / Cord: Specialized cables (like the S-17 or A-20) that link the battery case to the solenoid or the shutter's built-in sync port.
· Compatibility: Designed primarily for Graphic press cameras.
