2026-05-21 - Arkay Model F18C Electric Print Dryer

 

The Arkay Model F18C Electric Print Dryer is an electric darkroom print dryer that was a staple of photography studios and darkrooms, particularly in the 1950s. It is primarily designed for drying fiber-based black and white or colour photographic prints. 

                                                       

 

Key Features:

·        Design: Features a double-sided heating element that allows you to dry prints on both sides of the unit simultaneously.

·        Capacity: It is ideally sized for prints up to 11" x 14".

·        Physical Dimensions: Approximately 21" in length, 14" in width, and 4–5" in height.



·        Electrical Specs: Operates on 110–120 Volts AC and consumes roughly 400 Watts. 

·        Film Types: Compatible with both black & white and colour prints.

·        Paper Types: While specifically built for traditional fiber-base paper, it can be adapted for Resin Coated (RC) prints by using lower heat or protective layers (like paper towels) to prevent the plastic from melting or sticking to the surface.
