The Baia Ultraviewer Dual 8 Movie Editor is a manual tabletop device manufactured by Baia Engineering, designed for viewing and splicing both Regular 8mm and Super 8 movie film. It features a built-in screen, a manually operated film gate, and an integrated splicing block to help users edit pre-projection reels frame-by-frame.

Key Features:

  • Dual Format Compatibility: Accommodates both Standard 8mm and Super 8mm film via a switchable format gate or specialized loading guide.
  • Manual Operation: Powered by a standard wall plug for the projection lamp, but film advancement relies entirely on fold-out hand cranks.
  • Built-in Splicer: Features a fold-down splicing block on the front console used for joining film strips with wet cement or adhesive splicing tape.
  • Compact Body Style: Built with a lightweight plastic or metal frame, often styled with a mid-century faux woodgrain or gray console finish.

Operation:

·        Mount Reels: Place your source reel onto the left supply spindle and an empty reel onto the right take-up spindle.

·        Thread Film: Pull the film leader across, slide it under the guide rollers, and position it into the central film gate. Ensure the sprocket holes align perfectly.

·        Power On: Flip the side toggle switch to activate the internal projection bulb.

·        View and Cut: Manually turn the right crank to pull the film forward onto the central viewing screen. Stop on the target frame, pull the film out, and press it onto the front splicing block to make precise cuts.
