The Yashica FX-3 Camera is a fully mechanical 35mm film single-lens reflex (SLR) film camera first released by Yashica in 1979. Manufactured by Cosina, it is renowned for its lightweight design and mechanical reliability. It operates entirely without batteries except for its built-in, 3-LED light metering system.

Key Features:

 

  • Lens Mount: Contax/Yashica (C/Y) mount, suitable for Yashica and Carl Zeiss lenses.
  • Mechanical Shutter: Features a vertical metal focal-plane shutter that operates entirely without battery power. If the battery dies, the camera will still shoot perfectly across all speeds.
  • Shutter Speeds: Range from 1 second to 1/1000th of a second, plus Bulb (B) mode for long exposures.
  • Exposure Meter: Built-in centre-weighted light meter powered by two standard LR44 batteries. It displays exposure in the viewfinder using three simple LEDs: + (overexposed), – (underexposed), and a green circle (correct exposure).
  • Battery: Uses two LR44 or SR44 batteries for the meter.
  • Weight: Extremely lightweight (approx. 450g / 1 lb body-only).
