2026-08-03 - Image 51 Inch Aluminum Tripod

 

The Image Aluminum Tripod is an entry-level camera and camcorder tripod. These tripods were mass produced starting around 1960 by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in Japan and Taiwan, then rebranded for Western retailers. This particular tripod measures about 51” high when fully extended.

Key Features:

 

  • Material: Constructed with durable aluminum alloy, typically features lightweight, 3-section or 4-section aluminum legs with flip-locks, a geared center column, and a basic 3-way pan/tilt head. Usually weighs under 1.5 kg and supports a maximum payload of 2 to 3 kg.
  • Height: Designed to reach a maximum standing or tabletop height of about 51 inches (130 cm). This was standard for consumer travel or compact tripods of that era. It allowed eye-level usage when placed on a table, or a stable chest-level shooting height while standing.
  • Head Type: Often comes with a 3-way pan/tilt head or a ball head for quick, smooth adjustments.
  • Attachment: Usually equipped with a universal ¼” -20 mounting screw.
