The Yashica TL Electro X Camera, introduced by Yashica Co., Ltd., Japan in October 1968, is the world's first commercially successful SLR to feature an electronically controlled shutter.

- Shutter: Electronically timed focal-plane shutter offering stepless speeds from 2 seconds to 1/1000 sec, plus Bulb.
- Metering: TTL (Through-The-Lens) stop-down metering. The viewfinder features illuminated red arrows pointing up or down to indicate exposure direction, with proper exposure achieved when both arrows turn off.
- Battery: Originally designed for mercury PX640 cells, but easily runs on 6V alkaline or 4LR44 / 4SR44 batteries.
